Catalogue of an exhibition at the Shanghai Museum showing the donation of scholars' rocks (qishi or gongshi) by the collector, Hu Kemin. 78 varied examples are illustrated, the majority in more than one view. Texts accompany. The rocks and stones (together with their stands) are of a size whereby they would be placed on a scholar's desk or table in a scholar's studio. The first major exhibition in China on this subject. Aesthetically pleasing. Introductions, list of contents, table of illustrations and captions to plates in English. Main text in Chinese. An addition to the sparse literature on this subject.
