The exhibition aimed to tell a continuous story of links between China and Italy from the 13th to 16th centuries. Some of the links tenuous (probably to be expected) but ever-interesting. The exhibition in five main sections: From Four Seas to Seven Seas; The Compass Pointing to the East; The Sunrise of Dadu; The Package of Marco Polo; It's Impolite Not to Reciprocate. Each of these main sections with a number of subsections. Includes paintings, textiles, ceramics, maps and books (both Chinese and western) from the period under examination. Also Christian missionary objects. Illustrated throughout. A number of essays by scholars from China and western countries. Brief introductions to each section and captions to plates in English.
