Mazu is a female deity, a goddess protector especially of seafaring folk, particularly popular on the southern Chinese coast. She is said to have been born in AD 960 and to have ascended into heaven in broad daylight in 987. This book is a fine facsimile of a work originally entitled 'Tianhou Shengmu Shengji Tuzhi', the detailed account of the girl-goddess's life and works, with fine woodcut illustrations. This edition is based on a Tongzhi period woodblock edition (1860s-70s). In Chinese only.
