DENZW1 Deng Ruiquan and Wang Guanying: ZHONGGUO WEISHU ZONGKAO. (A Thorough Study of Chinese Books of Questionable Authenticity). Hefei, 1998. 47, 1024 pp. 22x16 cm. Cloth. GBP 15.00 Giving it a hasty translation, 'fake' or 'forged' books for 'weishu' seems harsh for works which have entered the Chinese literary tradition with uncertain accreditation; after all no one really knows who wrote the Confucian Analects, or the Bible for that matter. Nonetheless the hard work of textual criticism must go on, and here is a valuable contribution to such work, with a list of some 1200 titles discussed at the outset arranged according to the traditional four categories, plus additional sections on the Daoist and Buddhist canons, all with further handy subdivisions. In Chinese only. Subjects: Bibliography Can be ordered in, as of: 03/07/2008 Record produced by Hanshan Tang Books, www.hanshan.com. |
